After visiting Stonehenge, we consulted our trusty @lonelyplanet book to find our next stop. We ended up in Avebury - a place that we had never heard of which we realised is ridiculous once we arrived and did some research on the place. Avebury is essentially a small village that is surrounded by large stones that create three big circles in the landscape. The stones are believed to have been placed here around 2600 BC with similar religious purposes as Stonehenge. Unique amongst megalithic monuments, Avebury contains the largest stone circle in Europe, and is one of the best known prehistoric sites in Britain. So much interesting history! 🙌🌳
I may be a little bit in love with York Minster. I mean, look at that ceiling 😍
