Danbooru is an online imageboard and image archive. The platform uses a non-hierarchical semantic structure that allows visitors (or “lurkers”) to search for images they want to see through tags and ratings. Registered users can become contributors and upload, tag, or comment on images. The main site features anime-style images, many of which are explicit or NSFW. Since the source code was made available to other programmers, numerous imageboards have sprung up using the same structure but specializing in specific subjects.
