Tagged is a California based social networking website geared toward meeting new people. Originally only open for teens, the site expanded to allow users of all ages in 2006. Criticized for sending deceptive emails to users’ contacts to get them to join the site back in 2009, the company was forced to pay over $1 million in legal settlements and has since changed its recruitment strategy. Tagged was named on Forbes list of America’s Most Promising Companies in 2011, and acquired Hi5 (once the third largest social network, behind Facebook and Myspace) in December of that year.
