Blingee is an online photo editor and animated GIF creator that allows users to apply layers and cheesy special effects to images they upload to the site. Launched as part of a website network known as the Bauer Teen Group, Blingee was popular among young people who wanted to add personalized imagery to their Myspace pages. Popularity fell dramatically over time, and it was announced in August of 2015 that Blingee would be closing down. Fan outcry ensued, however and the site soon secured funding to continue operations.
