Karmaloop is a web retailer and media company that targets the “Verge Culture”—early adopting tech-savvy trend followers. Founded by Greg Selkoe in his parents’ Boston basement, the company specializes in streetwear and urban style. Though it experienced massive growth in 2011 and continued to expand until 2013, some of the newer arms of the service, such as Monark Box and Boylston Trading, did not succeed as hoped and the company was prompted to file bankruptcy in 2015. Subsequently, it was purchased by Comvest Capital and CapX Partners, and then by Sheikh Shoes in 2016.
