Newgrounds is an entertainment and social media website, specializing in flash animation and music. Originally the name of a Neo Geo fanzine published from the founder Tom Fulp’s basement as far back as 1991, the website newgrounds.com was not launched until 1996. Growth of the site was propelled by in-house games like Assassin and Club a Seal, but the site eventually became a social community, hosting games, movie, audio, and art by members. Eventually growing to include over 35,000 games and a huge user base, the site also has a forum area, private messaging, and live chat.
