Web-based or online gaming has become the rage today. These are games that you can play on your browser without the need to download any files. Some browser games may require you to register, while there are others that allow you to play immediately.

If there is anything they have in common, they are obviously fun to play despite its simplicity in design and gameplay, and are quick to set up. Here are five of the highly popular web-based games for 2020.

Doom

This popular 90s first-person shooter game is back. You play a Space Marine as you fight your way through hordes of demons and possessed humans. You begin with a pistol but as the game progresses, you will gain access to more powerful weapons, and for a good reason. The enemies and bosses you face get tougher as you move to the next level. To keep you going, you will find medicine packs to restore your health and armor to allow you to lessen the damage you get. Like the original version, the violence is so intense and gory and is not for the faint of heart (you have been warned). One more caveat: In order to play this game, you need to enable the Flash player.

Helicopter Game

The gameplay is similar to that of Flappy Bird. Just like the latter, you fly through vertical obstacles, dodging them using the arrow keys. Like any other game, the course gets even harder as the game progresses. Nevertheless, it is still an addictive game and you get engrossed as you progress.

Abobo’s Big Adventure

Who remembers Abobo, that sub-boss from Double Dragon? This time, he is the “good guy” in as you fight your way through waves of minions with varying capabilities until you fight the bosses. This game is sure to bring some nostalgia for those who used to play the Nintendo Entertainment System. The gameplay is a linear navigation format. The player fights a series of foes before moving forward (no going back) until the stage is finished.

Blast Arena

This game is similar to Nintendo’s Bomber Man, only you are competing with other players. You plant bombs and break the stone walls in the maze to collect items and whoever collects the maximum number of items without dying wins the game. Just press the space bar to plant a bomb at a strategic location where the explosion can break the highest number of stones to win rewards. Just be sure to steer clear of the blast lest you “die” and it is game over.

DarkOrbit: Reloaded

Set in outer space, its gameplay will keep you riveted you control your spaceship in a thrilling battle with other players. The three-dimensional isometric game allows players to choose between three companies: VRU, EIC, and MMO. You have to fight to garner wealth and power not only for yourself but also for your company.
